The day, together
Shared calendars, today’s meals, upcoming events, weather, and the things that need a parent’s attention.

Built for our family
A place for the everyday life
of our family.
Inspired by family commonplace books, Our Book is a shared place for the things we want to keep and carry forward. What started as an allowance tracker grew into the app we use to organize, share, and remember, on our phones and the Skylight display we made our own.

Shared calendars, today’s meals, upcoming events, weather, and the things that need a parent’s attention.
Rotating responsibilities, tasks to claim, parent approvals, points and privileges, and a personal allowance ledger for each kid.
A recipe collection with serving adjustments and cooking mode, weekly meal planning, and a shared grocery checklist.
Wish lists for the family, with purchase tracking kept out of the kids’ view and scoped sharing for gift givers.
Board and video game libraries, plus idea jars for movie night, family adventures, and those “I’m bored” moments.
Family guides, photo collections and slideshows, birthdays, seasonal touches, and a little virtual pup along for the ride.
The display
We already had a 15-inch Skylight. I wanted it to show the same family tools we were building for our phones, so we turned it into a dedicated Our Book display.
Our device runs Android 13. Using a USB connection and Android’s developer tools, we installed Fully Kiosk Browser, set Our Book as its start page, and configured it to open when the device boots or the Home button is pressed.
Fully provides the full-screen browser; Our Book provides the experience. The original Skylight software stays installed for recovery. The setup didn’t require rooting the device or replacing its firmware.
The display can become a photo frame when idle. Appearance and slideshow preferences belong to each device, so changing the wall display doesn’t change anyone’s phone.
This is the setup for our particular display, rather than a universal installation guide.
A family tool that can grow with us.
